Erin Murphy

Erin has more than a decade of experience in graphic design, event planning, social media strategy and marketing management for nonprofits, corporations, startups and government agencies.

She is currently co-founder at Canvass, a creative consulting agency that specializes in graphic design, event production and strategic marketing and communications for clients in the technology, education, aerospace and energy industries. At Canvass, Erin leads all creative design, social media and online marketing projects for clients.

Previously, Erin served as marketing manager at City Year Los Angeles, an educational nonprofit organization that deploys recent graduates into at-risk neighborhood schools to work directly with students who need additional peer based support to help them get back on track to graduate high school. At City Year L.A., she managed graphic design and social media activities, in addition to supporting events and marketing for the organization.

Prior to City Year L.A., Erin was the head of event production, social media strategy and marketing for the USC Stevens Center for Innovation. While at USC, Erin produced events ranging from the first TEDx event ever built (TEDxUSC) to a plethora of student Innovation competitions and “first look” events that showcased breakthrough technologies stemming from faculty and student-led research.

As a volunteer active in her community, Erin is the co-founder and lead organizer of TEDxVeniceBeach, an independently organized TED conference. In this role, she co-led program curation and speaker preparation for the 2013 and 2015 events and prepared more than 25 speakers for their role on stage at the conference.

Erin is a graduate of Parsons School of Design where she received a bachelor of business administration with a focus on design management and communication design. Erin enjoys travel mixed with volunteering, and has spent time in Baja, Mexico visiting local orphanages with the nonprofit Change Fire, and built houses in Molokai, Hawaii with Sustainable Molokai.
